The symposium seeks to encourage and stimulate discussions on a wide range of topics related<br \/>\nto philosophy of music education from international and interdisciplinary perspectives. This includes in<br \/>\nparticular research concerned with intersections of philosophy of music education and music education<br \/>\npolicy, or comparative and international music education.<br \/>\nPapers must be in English, not exceeding 6,000 words, and formatted using Microsoft Word. An<br \/>\nabstract of no more than 250 words must accompany the text. Authors will certify that their papers have not<br \/>\nbeen published elsewhere and are not under review for other conferences or publications. All submissions<br \/>\nwill be blind peer-reviewed by a panel of international scholars. Panel submissions are welcome; please<br \/>\nprovide a general abstract for the entire panel and individual abstracts for each participant. Panels will be<br \/>\n90 minutes.<br \/>\nSubmission deadline is October 1, 2018. Late papers will not be accepted. Paper submissions<br \/>\nshould be sent via email to program co-chair Lauren Kapalka Richerme, at lkricher@indiana.edu.<br \/>\nAuthors of accepted papers are expected to attend the symposium in London, ON, Canada. Invited<br \/>\nspeakers will be expected to give a shortened version of their paper within a strict 30-minutes timeframe.<br \/>\nIndividuals who wish to serve as respondent should contact program co-chair Hanne Fossum at<br \/>\nHanne.Fossum@hioa.no. Responses will be 10 minutes in length to leave time for dialogue and interactions<br \/>\namong symposium participants.<br \/>\nThe ISPME network has the great pleasure of inviting doctoral students working with philosophical<br \/>\naspects on music education to participate in a pre-conference workshop before the opening of the<br \/>\nsymposium. Participants will have the opportunity to present their projects and discuss philosophical and\/or<br \/>\nmethodological issues with each other and with international scholars. To participate in the pre-conference<br \/>\nworkshop, please send no more than two pages with a short abstract of your doctoral project and a specific<br \/>\nquestion that you want to discuss.
