The International Society for the Philosophy of Music Education was founded to promote philosophical inquiry in music education and related fields. It accomplishes this aim primarily through the organization of various international symposia, through its association with the Philosophy of Music Education Review (the premiere peer-reviewed journal in the field of music education, and now available at a reduced rate for ISPME members), and through its webpage (www.ispme.net) and other forms of communication, all of which help promote a sense of international community.

It was decided at the 2010 ISPME Business Meeting in Helsiinki that the Society will begin collecting annual membership dues.  Monies collected will go toward supporting the continued development of the Society’s webpage, office expenses, and costs associated with preparation for our biennial symposia, such as advertising and travel arrangements for guest speakers.

Kate Caras from Indiana University Press is offering members of ISPME a special price for the journal through our website.  Note the original cost of the journal and the ISPME price:
